The first chapter in the academic pursuit for knowledge in engineering began in 1996 at the Army Institute of Technology, affiliated to the University of Pune, India. If I had known the pursuit was never ending, I might never have ventured into it, but then again I would never have had the pleasure of knowing how enjoyable it is to be part of this journey. Chapter 1 ended with me obtaining a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Telecommunications in July 2000. To present the reader with a break, before begining Chapter 2, I joined Infosys Technologies India ; at their pune developement center, as a software engineer and was with them from July 2000-July 2002. Chapter 2 of this saga then commenced with me joining the University of Southern California, as a masters student, in August 2002. As providence would have it, this is where I met my mentor and advisor Professor. Bhaskar Krishnamachari. But as with any other story, an adventure begins with a bit of soul searching, and that happened with me ending Chapter 2 in December 2004; with a Masters in Electrical Engineering, and joining Cisco Systems , Banglore, India, in January 2005. Just when it seemed that Chapter 3 might never be written, Bhaskar instilled in me the belief that it is worth writing Chapter 3 of this saga; which as it turned out was the most exciting part of this journey. Chapter 3 finally began with me joining the Ph.D program, in the Electrical Engineering department, in Fall 2005. I will not elaborate on this chapter, since the entire website is devoted to giving details on this part of the journey. The details can be found in the Research and Publications tabs. The key highlights of Chapter 3 were: me getting awarded the USC Annenberg Fellowship for the year 2007-2008, and a Sprint research grant for the summer of 2007.
As I mentioned at the begining, I found out to my delight that this journey is never ending. Though formally I will be finishing my Ph.D in June 2009, and moving on to join Redback Networks, I personally hope that I will keep adding chapters to this wonderful journey of my eductation. If not formally, then informally by getting a chance to talk to the thousands of brilliant minds, who are constantly designing and bringing to life such wonderful experiences for millions of other students.
